I was brainstorming for Valentines Day, since it is coming up soon, and Kendra's Danielle and Elle earrings in any pinks, reds, purples or rhodium combinations would be perfectly festive for the big day. Who doesn't love Kendra Scott? I haven't met anyone who doesn't. The Danielle and Elle are my favorite because of their simplicity. I always think to myself, "Why didn't I think of that for a jewelry design?" That's when you know it's a great idea. 

Kendra Scott has been my "go-to" jewelry for a few months now. I always knew of her line because she is from Austin, Texas and that is where her headquarters is based too. If you are from Austin or if you live there then you know who Kendra Scott is. She's everywhere! I've always owned a couple pieces from her collection but a few of months ago I bought a pair of white and black Danielle earrings from Rodeo Boutque. I have found myself constantly alternating between the two and I've come to the conclusion that it is because they are such sleek/simple designs. They go with everything! Casual or dressy. Since then I have bought a few more colors and again, I am throwing those into the mix as well.

I just bought these magenta and neon yellow Elle earrings from Nordstrom, which are also new colors she just launched this season. Neon, especially in a pink, for Spring 2014 is where it's at. I really want to wear the magenta with a white dress for Valentines Day, or the yellow with a pink dress. I have this magenta Harlow necklace on my "wish list" ...possibly a Valentines Day gift from the husband? Hint. Hint. I know he reads my blog! It is from Nordstrom as well. Oh yeah, if you don't already know and if you live in the Baton Rouge area like me ...Kendra Scott is opening a new store here in the Perkins Rowe shopping mall!! You can't even imagine how excited I am!! And I can't even imagine how excited all the sorority girls are too! A sorority girl without Kendra Scott is just bizarre and unheard of in the south!! Pearls, David Yurman, Nike shorts, boat shoes and Kendra Scott. That's all they need.

One of my new hobbies, I guess you can call it, is painting my own nails. When my parents were still paying my bills, I would get my nails done all the time. Realistically, I would go on a weekly basis. Shit, that's a lot of visits to the nail salon. Now that I am on my own, I am realizing how ridiculous that is and I am trying to calculate in my head how much money that is too. Gah! I always tried painting my own nails growing up but I sucked. Really bad. I don't think I had the patience that I have now. 

Living in Baton Rouge leaves me with no free babysitters. My only babysitter is Joey. So when do I get to go to the salon? At night when Joey gets home or on the weekends. But, that's usually when I work. But, if I am not working, I am taking advantage of Joey being home so I can get done all the "things" I can't do when I am here by myself. I just got into the habit of doing my nails myself when Tory is asleep at night. 

I bought a dotting tool at Sally's Beauty Supply so I could add some polkadots to my manicure. I've been practicing and I would say that I am getting somewhat decent at it. Ah, my goal is to teach myself to do other designs and patterns because nail art is kind of "the thing" right now. Yeah? And, I want to be able to mix it up some. Fun nails are probably the most exciting part of my day. I think that having your nails painted is very much apart of your look and outfit. You can't just have your hair and makeup done to feel "put together" ...you need your nails done as well. 

Another reason why I like painting my own nails is because I have to have my nails as short as possible. As soon as they grow out even a smidge, I bit them, causing me to have to repaint them. I can't stand long nails. They drive me insane. I know a lot of ladies go two weeks, three weeks or even a month before they get their nails redone. Mainly because, yes, it gets expensive. So that is another reason why I like painting my own nails. I can paint them as often as I want and it doesn't cost me anything. Except for the cost of polish. I know this is all information that people already know. I'm lagging.

There's ice on my sidewalk! I can't even get to my car without hopping over this patch of ice!! Tory, Joey & I have been locked up in the house for the past couple of days. Whenever southerners have "snow" aka ice days, we just don't know what to do with ourselves! Or how to handle the situation! We freak out and make everyone stay at home!! The freeway is shut down, businesses are closed, every shelf in the grocery store is empty -especially the liquor. Actually, the liquor is the first thing to go. Cajuns really like to drink. More than Texans for sure. Joey is back to work today, but I am still stuck at home. At least it is warmer weather than 27 degrees and thank you Jesus that it is not raining!! 

Fall Into the Gap

 Tory is modeling her bathing suit for everyone. She also loves her denim jacket and her heart-shaped sunglasses! She was very excited today. As you can tell. I love her little potbelly and legs. We are dreaming of warm weather over here. It has been sleeting and my car is covered in ice!

Chinos and chaos. There is always either a baby or a puppy somewhere close nearby to step into the frame.  When taking photos at home, it takes forever to get them done. Actually, it takes forever to get just about anything done at home. I am constantly having to get Tory out of the my pictures, but she pops in every now and then. She loves being both in front and behind the camera. I have a little model/photographer on my hands. True life of a mommy with a two year old.  How about these chinos though?
