One of my new hobbies, I guess you can call it, is painting my own nails. When my parents were still paying my bills, I would get my nails done all the time. Realistically, I would go on a weekly basis. Shit, that's a lot of visits to the nail salon. Now that I am on my own, I am realizing how ridiculous that is and I am trying to calculate in my head how much money that is too. Gah! I always tried painting my own nails growing up but I sucked. Really bad. I don't think I had the patience that I have now.
Living in Baton Rouge leaves me with no free babysitters. My only babysitter is Joey. So when do I get to go to the salon? At night when Joey gets home or on the weekends. But, that's usually when I work. But, if I am not working, I am taking advantage of Joey being home so I can get done all the "things" I can't do when I am here by myself. I just got into the habit of doing my nails myself when Tory is asleep at night.
I bought a dotting tool at Sally's Beauty Supply so I could add some polkadots to my manicure. I've been practicing and I would say that I am getting somewhat decent at it. Ah, my goal is to teach myself to do other designs and patterns because nail art is kind of "the thing" right now. Yeah? And, I want to be able to mix it up some. Fun nails are probably the most exciting part of my day. I think that having your nails painted is very much apart of your look and outfit. You can't just have your hair and makeup done to feel "put together" ...you need your nails done as well.
Another reason why I like painting my own nails is because I have to have my nails as short as possible. As soon as they grow out even a smidge, I bit them, causing me to have to repaint them. I can't stand long nails. They drive me insane. I know a lot of ladies go two weeks, three weeks or even a month before they get their nails redone. Mainly because, yes, it gets expensive. So that is another reason why I like painting my own nails. I can paint them as often as I want and it doesn't cost me anything. Except for the cost of polish. I know this is all information that people already know. I'm lagging.
