She's getting mad because she wants me to push her. She would be in a swing all day if she could!! When she was a newborn, her swing was my knight and shining armor!! When I was small, one of my favorite memories was of my great grandfather pushing me in my swing outside in the backyard. He would pull up a lawn chair and just sit there for hours until I was ready to go inside. He was the sweetest man I ever met. He would have done anything for anybody. He lived until he was 98 years old. I miss him! This is Tory after I pulled up a chair of my own and starting swinging her:

Express has so many fabulous pieces in their store right now!! I just got home from the Mall of Louisiana, trying to get out of the house, and I walked passed the Express store and couldn't help but be lured inside by all of the cute mannequins in the window! I admit that I haven't shopped at Express since high school -I guess because Express has a more tailored market for business women who are looking for great suits and I've never had a purpose for a suit before. All of their suits in the store had so many great "mix and match" options, especially in black and white color combos -which I am obsessed with (there are plenty of other colors available as well). If I worked in an office, I would totally shop at Express for suits!! I am not a traditional suit girl, but if I had to dress business professional at work, I would want something that was also trendy and fashion forward. Everything at Express right now is just that, both professional and chic. I would recommend going in there if you haven't lately because all of these looks below can be worn to other nontraditional work places or even out on the town with your girlfriends!! Enjoy!
Last night while I was at work a certain book, Q & A a day, caught my eye. We've had this book for a while now, probably the entire time I've worked at Anthropologie. Actually, probably even longer than that and I've always managed to walk right passed it, even straightened it up before and never really noticed it until last night. There wasn't any particular reason why I picked the book up to see what was inside, I think I subconsciously was drawn to it last night. I think I was supposed to discover this book yesterday because today something really funny happened that made my purchase from last night really ironic.
Today I ran up to my favorite store in the world, known as the grocery store. I hate grocery shopping. It is the worst. Especially since I don't cook, I don't have the least bit of interest to go inside any grocery store. To Joey, the grocery store is Heaven. He loves grocery shopping because he loves cooking. So if you haven't figured it out yet, Joey is the one who cooks around here. Anyways, I am at the grocery store this morning picking up a few things that Tory and I need and the experience isn't going bad. Although it does take me forever to find the milk and the eggs and the dog food but eventually I find them. That place is a maze. Tory isn't fussing too badly, especially after I get her a grapefruit drink and a cookie so I would say that everything was running pretty smoothly.
It wasn't until I got to my car and looked in my rear view mirror that I realized that I had bright, pink lipstick all over my mouth. Like all over. I looked like a clown. That is also when I realize that I had put on lipstick instead of my sheer, lip-gloss. When I saw myself in the mirror, I wanted to die. I was so humiliated. I've been so stressed out lately, my post-partum depression has really been bad and this lipstick moment was kind of a comic relief. I was embarrassed but at the same time I busted out laughing. Although now that I am writing about it, I kinda want to cry.
When I got home from the grocery store, I text my mom and told her what had happened. I told her that everyone at the grocery store probably thought I was crazy and she told me that it was okay -that all moms go through experiences like that. She said that when I was younger, she had worn two different shoes to one of my parent’s nights at school and she didn't do it on purpose. It is just when you're a parent, your brain doesn't function how it used to. My memory is horrible, I wash my hair probably three times in one shower because I can't remember if I washed my hair or not. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached and I was never like this before I had a child. I was on point, all the time. Focused. Ready. Prepared. And now I am just a hot mess.
But here is where I had my ironic moment. I look inside my Q & A a day book once I get home, after I text my mom and I read what the question is for the day. And this is what it says, "Who is the craziest person in your life?" (insert big laughs here). I didn't need to think about this question at all and I sure as hell didn’t hesitate before I screamed out, “ME!!” I am the craziest person in my life. My husband would probably agree.

One of the great things about Anthropologie is that if an item doesn't sell out, then it will go on sale. Sometimes I am surprised at how quick pieces get marked down or at all the fabulous dresses that are hanging up in the sale room for $39.95!! So if there is something that you want or need and can't afford to splurge on at the moment and you need to wait until the item is priced more reasonably to match your budget then I would recommend saving your dough until it gets marked down.
WANT: Sunglasses, $119.95||NEED: Dress, $99||SPLURGE: Booties, $199.95||SAVE: Earrings, $19.95||Dress, Bailey 44||Booties, Modern Vice||Earrings, Anthropologie||Cat-Eye Sunglasses, Ksubi||
This dress is one of those items that I was shocked to find that it had gone on sale. It is one style that Anthropologie has had for a few seasons -last year I think it was in a similar color palette. Why is it so awesome? Well, it is a dress that looks good on all shapes and sizes. It is both casual and dressy so you can wear to church, you can wear it out on a date, you can wear it running errands or you can wear it to work. It is the perfect "day to night" dress. It is so flattering on and everyone who has tried it on at the store, buys it. It is a dress that you won't bring back for a refund and that you will get so much wear out of it. Definitely worth your money, especially on sale for $99!!
These booties are a little more edgy, not necessarily for everyone because they are for a very specific look. They did come in a solid red and I wish that I had snagged them up before they sold out! But, I still really like them in the navy and red color combo! To me, I instantly think of european style or The Beatles. They are just really fun, have a lot of personality and I know that if I ever wore them out that I would get so much positive attention. Especially at a musical festival like ACL or South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. They would look cute with a dress, denim shorts or skinny jeans rolled up a bit. Love them! Even marked down they are still a little expensive, so hopefully they will get marked down again, which is more than likely to happen.
I've been looking for a really great cat-eye pair of sunglasses in white for a while now. Of course since I am so pale, certain whites/neutrals don't look good with my skin tone but I have a feeling that these would look darling! And the detail on them is divine! I really want to wear them with a big, floppy hat and a sun dress. Even possibly paired with those booties by Modern Vice. I know that white sunglasses were very trendy a few years ago when Mary-Kate Olsen stepped out for the first time in her white, Ray Ban, wayfarer sunglasses ...you know before Ray Ban was the "it" brand. She is responsible for the popularity of those sunglasses. I would say that Ray Ban owes her big time. Anyways, I have this "white" obsession right now. I want everything in my wardrobe to be white. I think a white pair of sunglasses would be a nice start.
These earrings I got to wear during one of my shifts at work because we put on an event for our customers with January birthdays in the store. I love Anthro events, they are so fun!! Anyways, they are such a great earring because they are super feminine and look like vintage, costume jewelry. You would think that they are too fancy but the reality is that they aren't. They can be worn dressed up or dressed down. I think people instantly think that they are too dressy so they don't even consider them when trying on earrings in the store. And it got me until I wore them for an Anthro event to really see that they are versatile. Sometimes you just have to try something on to really know if it is going to work or not. A lot of customers pass up on items because there is no "hanger appeal" to them. But what I've learned it to step outside my box and try stuff even if I don't think it is cute on the hanger.
Here are five more sale looks that I love from Anthropologie. First look is a "charlie" trouser on sale for $29.95! The first black dress is on sale for $49.95 and comes in two other blue colors. The black, wrap dress comes in 3 different colors and is on sale for $39.95!! The neon shift dress is on sale for $79.95!! And the sheath dress is a new mark down at $119.95!!
