Silver Linings by Chu Shu New York is a company that sells shoe inserts for women that help absorb the sweat from your feet & reduce odor in either new or old shoes. So if you are like me and wear quite a lot of flats that don't require socks, these will be a life saver. The silver linings are inserted in the front of your shoes and have a anti-slip layer, which is nice because I hate it when other inserts I use have a sticky bottom and then leave a sticky residue behind. The linings last around (approximately) a month or 10-15 uses & to add a little bonus, they are eco-friendly!

This company uses a antimicrobial, "silver-based technology that prevents odor causing bacterial and fungal growth." The inserts come in a half-shoe length (2 mm thin) & are a "fits most" size. They go in the front of the shoes because that is where the moisture & where your feet sweat the most. So these keep your feet and shoes dry & keep your shoes from becoming stinky! And, if your shoes are old & already stinky from wearing them without socks, you can use the silver linings inserts to help reduce the odor that already exists.

Decorating the Beehive: Tidbits

Hello Honeybees,

Now that I am living in my first, official home (outside of living in my fair share of college apartments & my parent's house), I have been going crazy decorating it with just about any cool, vintage piece of furniture or decorative piece I can get my hands on. I shop a lot on Etsy, which is where most of my tidbit pictures are from. I wanted to share some up close & personal photos of "things" in my home that I have been collecting over the past months. If you're a fan of antiques, then I think we would get along great, or at least you'd enjoy this post!

I wanted to take the time to put up links to some Etsy shops that I frequently visit, and where a lot of these tidbits are from: Salvaged Space, Sunny Day Vintage, Davey's Vintage, Norcal Treasures & Eighty Six 56.

A few other places where my tidbits are from: Anthropologie , Discoveries Furniture, Revival Furniture & Highland Road Antiques. Filling up my home with beautiful, vintage finds from all over is what makes me really happy these days. All of these picks are very special to me. They are all a piece of history and from a time that is long gone. I can't help but wish that I lived back then, or at least I wish that we still dressed like they did back in the day (preferably from the 40s). I also have a lot of pieces that used to be both my grandparents & my great grandparents (the sewing machine) and those are the pieces that are most special to my heart. Papa Bee's First Father's Day

Hello Honeybees,

This past weekend was Father's Day! And it was Joey's first one!! Joey, Tory & I traveled to Houston to see my Poppie (my dad's dad), my dad & my four other brothers and sisters to celebrate the most important men in my life! My dad just moved into a big, beautiful southern style home and we mostly just hung out & relaxed. Although, on Saturday, we did go downtown and see the Titanic exhibit! It is the 100 year anniversary! It was pretty cool seeing artifacts from the Titanic, I love "stuff" like that. 

I wasn't allowed to take pictures inside the exhibit so I just have a few pictures out in the lobby, before we went inside, and a few as we were walking back to our car. We also went into the "Warriors, Tombs & Temples" exhibit, which was pretty interesting but Titanic was by far my favorite. My goal for that weekend was to get a shot of my dad, Tory's grandfather, and Tory together. As we were walking back to the car, my dad aka "G-Dad," was throwing her up in the air (like he would do with me and my siblings) and I'm happy with the shot I got. 

And, of course, I have a biased opinion, but Tory is SO cute. I just want to squeeze her! My other goal over the weekend was to get a good shot of Tory with her Papa. And I must say, the one I got is pretty good! One of my brothers, Chase, got two new puppies recently, Vader and Camo. One wiener dog is all black & my brother is a big Star Wars nerd, so that's why he named that pup Vader. And the other wiener is grey & black dapple, sorta looks like he has "camo" on. They are cute pups. They gave lots of kisses to Tory. And I'm pretty much obsessed with puppy breath (what girl isn't?).
