Bee-ing Adventurous: Bourbon Street

Hello Honeybees,

All of these pictures are from our trip to New Orleans last summer. I was pregnant, so all I got to do was give people their jello shots & not take any for myself. I also got to waddled down Bourbon Street until midnight, then went & hit the hay. This summer, I am NOT pregnant so I will be participating in any and all fun events that take place on Bourbon Street. Joey, myself, and a few other family members are traveling to New Orleans tonight. We are all taking the weekend to have a little fun and to celebrate my 25th birthday (my real birthday was on the 10th). I will be a little M.I.A until Sunday night! Talk to you guys then! Breakfast at Tiffany's

Holly Golightly: I don't want to own anything until I find a place where me and things go together. I'm not sure where that is but I know what it is like. It's like Tiffany's.

Paul Varjak: Tiffany's? You mean the jewelry store.

Holly Golightly: That's right. I'm just CRAZY about Tiffany's!

Well that just about sums it up. There is a reason why every woman loves this movie. And it's not just because Audrey Hepburn is mesmerizing. Can't everyone relate to a girl who is "nameless" just like her "cat," and a girl who is just trying to find somewhere that she fits in? I know I relate to Holly & every time I watch this movie I get butterflies. I was inspired to write this post because I recently got this in the mail, from this Etsy shop, Scotatto:

Now, if only I could convince the husband to buy me a sofa like hers too. Ya know, the claw foot tub that is cut in half to be made into a love-seat? Probably the cutest couch I've ever seen & there is an Etsy shop that makes them, Reduxx:

Decorating the Beehive: Tidbits

Hello Honeybees,

Now that I am living in my first, official home (outside of living in my fair share of college apartments & my parent's house), I have been going crazy decorating it with just about any cool, vintage piece of furniture or decorative piece I can get my hands on. I shop a lot on Etsy, which is where most of my tidbit pictures are from. I wanted to share some up close & personal photos of "things" in my home that I have been collecting over the past months. If you're a fan of antiques, then I think we would get along great, or at least you'd enjoy this post!

I wanted to take the time to put up links to some Etsy shops that I frequently visit, and where a lot of these tidbits are from: Salvaged Space, Sunny Day Vintage, Davey's Vintage, Norcal Treasures & Eighty Six 56.

A few other places where my tidbits are from: Anthropologie , Discoveries Furniture, Revival Furniture & Highland Road Antiques. Filling up my home with beautiful, vintage finds from all over is what makes me really happy these days. All of these picks are very special to me. They are all a piece of history and from a time that is long gone. I can't help but wish that I lived back then, or at least I wish that we still dressed like they did back in the day (preferably from the 40s). I also have a lot of pieces that used to be both my grandparents & my great grandparents (the sewing machine) and those are the pieces that are most special to my heart. Every time I look at them, I get extremely sentimental. Until next time. 

Painting the Town

Joey and I spent yesterday painting Tory's nursery. Finally. Everything about a nursery gets delayed when you don't get a home until your baby is six months old. And even when you move in, everything, sometimes, takes a while to get put together. This is the case for Tory's room & she is now 8 months old. We went & bought paint a few days ago, so the plan for the 4th was to paint, eat burgers & shoot fireworks. I do realize that in the picture where my brother is holding Tory, he is also holding a bag of fireworks. I assure you that no babies were hurt in the celebration of our country's birthday. For the most part, Tory was sitting in the car with my mom, just in case there was a firework malfuntion. Sometimes, those happen. So safety first. 

The two colors we painted Tory's room are a dark mocha, and one wall is a light pink. It turned out really pretty. There are so many "things" in Tory's room that are pink so for the wall colors, I wanted the majority of the walls to be a neutral, dark color like mocha. I think the mocha is a nice contrast with the one light, pink wall. And, that's another thing. I was really scared while picking out a pink because pinks can be tricky. I didn't want a pepto bismol pink. Just a faint, touch of pink. I can't wait to show everyone pictures of Tory's finalized nursery. All I am waiting on is for her nightstand to be delivered. If I could describe her room, I would say that it is shabby chic elegant. The style of her furniture isn't vintage but it looks as though it is. I hope that I get some feedback from you guys on how you like her nursery. Until next time.

America, The Bee-utiful

Happy 4th of July! And, Happy Birthday America! Tory, like most babies today, is dressed up in her festive outfit. I hope everyone enjoys today! I just got Tory some white converse booties, I'm trying something different than the usual frilly, frou frou shoes. I see so many babies dressed up in these big bows, girly socks, and dressed from head to toe in pink (the girls). I like that but at the same time, I like dressing Tory not so "typical." I've been quite influenced by how Miss James from Bleubird dresses her little darling, Birdie. I'm really liking it. I like that it's low key and more bohemian. 

Anyways, I am so proud to be an American and to live in this country. I think a lot of people take their lives for granted who live here. We don't realize how amazing we have it. Freedom should not be taken for granted. The land of the free. And home of the brave. Where we can do as we please and live the American dream. And speaking of America, I can't wait until the Olympics start in London this summer. The summer Olympics are my favorite. I used to be in both track and gymnastics when I was younger so those are my favorite sports to watch. Can't wait to root for the red, white & blue! Go America. So proud to call you home.
